Today’s a Day for a Lousy Poem

Write a poem even if it’s lousy.” Kirk Vonnegut

Today’s a Day for a Lousy Poem

by Captain Dolphineas Poppy.

Today’s a day for a lousy poem,

written with speed and with nothing owing.

A blue car hurls down the potholed road,

walking the intersection I’m almost de toed.

There's a piece of banana thrown in the air,

like a big fruity rain drop from an angry white bear.

The cross walks markings are all but a ghost, but it’s the walker home and they are the host.

Stop your car, yell if you want, but  it’s a bear uncaged your trying taunt.

I’ll grumble smile with my paws and glower,

I’ll howl and dance and I’ll sing in the shower.

This poem might be lousy but at least it’s created

and your tires in the pot hole are now serrated.

The Manifesto of Captain Dolphineas Poppy "Searching for the Symmetry in the Salvage." Whether I am behind the wheel, navigating the strings of a Maccaferri guitar, or scouring the shoreline for buried treasure, I am looking for the same thing: The Golden Thread. At captaindolphineaspoppy.com, we believe that life doesn’t happen in a straight line—it happens in a waltz. My mission is to curate a space where the discarded becomes the divine. Here, you will find: The Salvage: Hand-picked oceanic artifacts, silver, and brass—objects with a history that deserve a future. The Music: Original compositions like The Waking Dream, crafted in the resonance of Manouche jazz and the rhythm of the tides. The Philosophy: A deep dive into the logic of our lives, guided by our Resident Philosopher, Elena Allegretti, exploring the mathematics of how we love and how we dream. I don’t just find things; I find the story they were waiting to tell. Welcome to the waking dream. Let’s see what we can uncover together. ” - Captain Dolphineas Poppy
